If the panel message was deleted (or was never posted), just repost it. An administrator can run:
If the old panel message still exists, Ticketr updates it in place. If it was deleted, a fresh panel is posted. Panels also auto-refresh whenever you change categories or panel settings, so a missing panel almost always means the message itself was removed.
Work through this checklist:
  • Is the ticket system enabled? Check the toggle under System in the dashboard (or /settings).
  • Is a ticket channel set and still valid? Thread tickets are created inside this channel. If it’s missing or invalid, creation fails.
  • Do you have at least one category? A panel with no categories has nothing to open.
  • Is a panel posted in the channel? Users open tickets from the panel.
  • For channel-type categories, does the chosen channel category still exist? If it was deleted, new tickets can’t be created in it.
Two things can block a user:
  • Restricted roles: if the category has restricted roles set, only members holding one of those roles can open it (“You do not have the required role to open a ticket in this category”).
  • Ticket limit: the category’s Max User Active Tickets. If a user already has that many open tickets, they’ll be told to wait for one to close.
Only roles you explicitly list get added to a ticket when it opens. Check the category’s Ping Roles and Manager Roles (plus the Ping Managers on Open toggle), and the server’s Ticket Admin Roles. Roles not listed there aren’t added automatically.
Only three kinds of people can close a ticket:
  • The member who opened the ticket
  • Members with a Manager Role for that category
  • Members with a Ticket Admin Role (any category)
If you’re none of these, the close button/command won’t work. Either ask the opener, or have someone with the right role close it for you.
If Ticketr can’t create threads or channels, or silently fails to do so, it’s almost always missing required permissions. Re-invite the bot with the permissions listed in Getting Started, including Manage Channels, View Channels, Send Messages and Send Messages in Threads, Create/Manage Threads, and Mention @everyone. For channel-type tickets, the bot also needs permission to create channels inside the chosen category.
When a ticket closes, Ticketr DMs the opener a summary. If the opener has DMs disabled, blocked the bot, or isn’t in shared servers with it, the DM fails silently and the ticket still closes, the transcript is still saved, and the log entry is still posted. Nothing is lost, just the closure isn’t announced to the opener.
If a category is deleted while tickets from it are still open, the ticket channels/threads themselves are not deleted and keep working. Two things change:
  • The category’s Manager Roles no longer apply (they were stored on the category), so those staff lose per-category manage access.
  • The server’s Ticket Admin Roles still work on every ticket, and the opener can still close their own ticket.
Ticketr can also recover tickets whose database record was lost, so they remain closable. If you need help cleaning up, contact support.
