# Ticket Logging

Ticketr can keep a log of everything that happens with your tickets, so you always know what went on, when, and who was responsible.

## The ticket log channel

The ticket log channel is where Ticketr posts a message every time a ticket is **opened**, **closed**, or gets an **update**. You configure it in the dashboard under **System -> Ticket Log Channel** (or via `/settings`).

<Info>
  #### No log channel? If no ticket log channel is set, Ticketr simply skips

  logging so tickets still work normally, you just won't get the log messages.
</Info>

## What each log entry contains

Every log message is colour-coded by type and includes the ticket it belongs to:

| Type | Accent colour | Contents |
| :- | :- | :- |
| Opened | Indigo | Category name, who opened the ticket, and the description they provided. |
| Closed | Green | Close reason (label and detail, if any) and who closed the ticket. |
| Update | Indigo | The update message itself and who posted it. |

All entries end with a link to the ticket channel, so you can jump straight to the conversation. Notifications are suppressed on log messages so your staff aren't pinged by the log channel.

## What isn't logged to Discord

Configuration changes, creating or deleting categories, editing panels, toggling settings, and adding/removing users from tickets are **not** posted to your log channel.
